For 7 years Ed Myers from Avalon Windows and Doors has been supporting Habitat for Humanity Thousand Islands in a big way. A successful Brockville business man since 2004, Ed knows that it isn’t all about making money but also giving back. It means being connected with others and helping them whenever he can.
“After a large job we swing by the Habitat for Humanity Thousand Islands Brockville ReStore and drop off any surplus windows, doors, fascia and siding, Ed says. We know they can sell it and put the money into a home for a needy family. It is our way of helping out in our community. Twice a year we do a complete clean up in our warehouse as well and all of the surplus is trucked over to the Brockville ReStore for resale.”
Giving back is very important to Ed.
Ed donates to Courageous Canines, an organization that trains dogs to assist veterans and police officers living with PTSD. He makes a point of supporting the Legion when ever they make a call.
A lover of fishing, Ed supports organizations that benefit children who cannot afford to go fishing through a game club. He donates products to the Brockville Auction and provides financial support for Loaves and Fishes Brockville, a restaurant that strives to provide its patrons with economical meals.
Ed will also give discounts to all churches looking for his business and as a father of two adult children and 4 grandchildren he makes a point of supporting the efforts of Guardians for Children, a charity that provides education, support and protection for abused children.
Community is defined as ‘A group of people living together in the same locality who share common interests and a sense of identity.’ The Brockville community is strengthened and sustained by the efforts of people like Ed Myers and Habitat for Humanity Thousand Islands is indeed grateful for his support and compassion for the work we do.
